Notes: I was gonna write this sometime ago but I didn`t like the finished
product but I really wanted a crossover. Penance and Domino appear. It`s a
short story that take`s place mainly in one night but rest assured Fearless
fans, this will not be the only crossover. Basically, the story is about
Sabretooth putting her on his hit list as an interesting challenge.
Gaia Moore © Francis Pascal.
X-Men © Marvel. No Fear Gaia shoved her hands in her pockets. Another restless night had began. Now she was in Bayville, for spring break. Ed had mentioned it to her, saying that it was a great place to hide. She didn`t care, she just wanted to get away from Heather. She was wandering aimlessly through town when she suddenly got the feeling that she was being followed. She glanced back over her shoulder and didn`t see anything. Maybe she was just paranoid. She heard a noise as soon as she turned back around. She stopped walking. Something jumped out of the alley at her. She whirled out of it`s path and started running. The sidewalk was slick from the rain, making it hard for her to run. She glanced back at her attacker, who was practically on her heels. He looked like a big cat person. She forced herself to run faster. She wasn`t afraid, of course, but she also wasn`t stupid enough to face him. Atleast not until they were in a less public area. A girl slightly older than Gaia suddenly appeared in front of her. Her skin was so pale it looked almost white. And she had a weird circle mark around her eye. Cat Man stopped. He growled at the girl, who just smiled at him. Then she grabbed Gaia by the arm and pulled Gaia up against her. "Don`t fight me," she whispered to Gaia. Lightning struck the lightpole above the three of them. The current spread into the water rising in puddles around them. Gaia looked away as Cat Man seemed to be electrocuted. Then the girl stepped back and looked a down at a thin piece of rubber that she and Gaia had been standing on. "What are the odds," she said, raising her eyebrow slightly. Then she walked away, leaving Gaia confused. * * * Gaia went back to her hotel room. The threat seemed to be over. She sat down on the bed and pulled halter top, jeans and a leather jacket out of her bag. She carried them to the bathroom. She turned the water on in the tub and undressed. She got in the tub. Hot breath steamed the window outside the bathroom. A single long red finger touched the glass and sliced through it easily. Gaia heard something heavy hit the ground in the main room. She stood up slowly and wrapped a towel around herself. She got out of the tub and grabbed her blow dryer. She saw a shadow move underneath the door. She waited for a moment before swinging the door opened and clocking the intruder in the head with the blow dryer. It wasn`t until they were sprawled out, unconcious, on the floor that she saw that it was the mutant she help back in New York. "Oops," Gaia said, biting her lip. The mutant came to a few minutes later. Gaia breathed a sigh of relief. "If you could hear me I would tell you I`m sorry and oh my god, why am I still talking?!" The mutant just looked confused. The look made Gaia smile. The mutant also smiled. Gaia stood up and headed to the door. She motioned to the mutant to come with her. She followed. Gaia ignored the stares as they headed through the lobby. Sometime later they were at the door of an Under 21 Club. Like adult clubs in New York they had a bouncer posted outside. "I don`t think so," he said, staring at the mutant. "Their kind isn`t allowed in there." Scott watched Jean and Duncan Matthews talking. He sighed. Paul punched him in the shoulder. "Hey man, earth to Scott." Scott blinked coming out of it. "Sorry, I was just distracted." "Whatever, check that out," Paul said, pointing towards the door of the club. A tall blonde girl was arguing with the bouncer. But next to her was a mutant with spiked hair and clawed hands. "So what if she`s a mutant?! So am I," Gaia yelled at the bouncer. Now she had everyone`s attention. "In that case neither one of you is allowed in there. Now go before I call the cops." "Why?! I haven`t done anything illegal. I could, though. I could take you easily." He grabbed her arm. Her first reaction was to flip him. So she did. Then she left with the mutant following close behind. One of the guys that had been there approached the two of them. "Hey, I`m Scott Summers. You know, what you did back there was pretty cool. He wouldn`t let me in either." "Gaia Moore. Thanks and atleast it wasn`t because you`re a mutant, unlike her. It`s like she isn`t entitled to have fun because of it. I don`t care about it. She`s my friend and alot nicer than some normal people I know." "I wish everyone was as tolerant as you. And I know the reason you are is because you`re one too," he told her. "Yeah, I know. I kinda yelled that out." "It`s okay. So am I," he said. "I know that too. Why else would you be wearing sunglasses at night? Unless you`re a really big fan of Corey Hart," she said. The two of them walked around town, talking. The other mutant walked with them. "So what powers to you have," he asked her. "Sorry, Scott. I have this thing were I don`t trust people that much. So I can`t tell you why I`m a mutant. All I can say is that I don`t have powers. I`m strong because I have a black belt so don`t even think it`s that." That`s when she noticed Scott and the other mutant were looking behind her. "We have trouble," Scott said. Gaia also looked back. The Cat Man that tried to attack her earlier was coming towards them on all fours. Gaia started running. "He`s after me. I`ll lead him away and you stay out of it," she yelled back at Scott. "You can`t face him alone," Scott yelled at her. "Yes I can," she said, sounding more sure than she actually was. A building top. Twelve stories high and no way to escape. The perfect place for a showdown. Gaia stared over the edge. Out of the corner of her eye she saw him coming towards her. "I thought you were dead," she said, looking at him. "No, but you would be if it weren`t for Lady Luck. I`ve heard alot about you. The Fearless One. I`ve heard that you`re real hard to bring down. Well, I love a good challenge," he growled. She got in a fighting stance. He lunged at her. She sidestepped and knocked him on the ground with a kick in the back of the head. "Oh please, you`re not even trying," she taunted. He was up in a flash but she kicked him in the face. "This is fun," she said, gleefully. "Gaia," someone yelled, distracting her. Cat Man took the opurtunity to push her over the edge. She reacted quickly, by grabbing the edge. Sabretooth turned to see that the X-men had shown up and were ready for battle. Gaia put her feet against the wall. Then she pushed them off allowing herself to flip upward and back on the building. Once over the Cat Man she used his shoulders as platform to go further. She whirled around in mid-air and landed in a fighting stance in front of him. The entire thing caught him off guard. Again she kicked him in the face. She kept it up until he was right at the edge, then she stopped, smiled at him and pushed him over. She watched him fall. She turned to the others. "Piece of cake. I didn`t need any of you. And I won`t ever," she told them, emphasizing the last word. * * * New York. Back to her life. Gaia was a bit disapointed. Breaks were always to short, even if you were running for you`re life. She thought about Scott and knew she would soon be back in Bayville to see him but for now she had to suffer through a school dance. Sam said he wanted to see her there. But otherwise she would`ve stayed home to watch "The Road Runner Movie". "Oh,Gaia," she heard Heather call. She rolled her eyes and wished that the guy had killed her. "I`m sure you didn`t have a break as exciting as me," Heather said. "Wanna bet," Gaia retorted. Gaia picked up an empty refreshment plate and used it like a mirror to fix her hair. Behind her, several feet away she saw Cat Man standing with a gun pointed at her. She whirled around, deflecting a bullet with the plate. "Crap, doesn`t he ever die," she mumbled to herself. The End
